Etsy Down!

Etsy is about to launch a new version! V2 has been much talked about for months now and everyone is just all excited over there. If you are an Etsy seller or avid Etsy buyer you know exactly what I am talking about. It is just like the anticipated arrival of a much awaited shipment or check in the mail. Also, a little bit nerve-racking as the original date scheduled for the transition was this past weekend, but ended up getting pushed back to this coming weekend November 11 + 12th. During the transition the site will be down - completely down - and offline. You may have noticed how sporadic Etsy has been the last couple of weeks. I suppose this has been partly due to the coming change, but also it has been told to us that Etsy is experiencing major growth bursts that are straining the site to its capacity.

So, this will be a welcome development to those who have been subject to the much too frequent DB Error screen. New features are also set to be launched with the new version, most exciting could be real time group cyber-shopping or shopcasting as it's called or maybe it could even be the addition of Sections to our shops so that they can be organized in a more clear way.

Check here for more details and even screenshots of what is to come. I am super excited and also a bit nervous. The prospect of switching over and entire site of thousands of shops seems like an enormously daunting task (well it's taken several months to come to fruition). But, I know the geniuses that run Etsy have it all under control.

So, if you were thinking about purchasing something from my shop this weekend I apologize in advance as the site will be unaccessible. You could always buy it now! Teehee! How about this, any purchases made before midnight on Friday, November 10 will receive free shipping for the inconvenience. Just email me or convo me through Etsy (before Friday!) and I will adjust your invoice.

I will be anxiously waiting the unveiling on Monday.....

Oh - The pic above is a mosaic image of the Etsy logo created with the avatars of all the sellers on the site. Pretty cool huh!
